Common Criteria
The Common Criteria (CC) for Information Technology Security Evaluation (abbreviated as Common Criteria or CC) is an international standard (ISO/IEC 15408) for computer security certification. CC not only determines the security requirements of the IT product users but also guarantees that the specification, implementation, and evaluation of a computer security product was carried out in a rigorous and standard manner. It is the main technique used to assess the products' or systems' security.
Companies choose to have Common Criteria evaluations done for their products in order to improve the security level of their products and to receive confirmation that the claimed security features are valid and have been independently assessed in accordance with accepted standards.

IT products and security profiles that have received a Common Criteria certificate can be purchased or utilized without further evaluation.
